Annual Festival: ​Akure Markets, Shops Shut Down On Monday | The Precision

The Deji of Akure kingdom, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo has directed that all shops and markets should be closed for businesses in Akure, the ondo state capital on Monday next week.
This is to enable Akure community celebrate Aheregbe Festival.

 

In a statement by the monarch’s chief press secretary, Michael Adeyeye, the Deji’s palace says the closure becomes necessary as part of the age-long tradition in observing the annual Aheregbe Festival.

PRESS RELEASE: CLOSURE OF MARKETS AND SHOPS IN AKURE TO OBSERVE AHEREGBE FESTIVAL
The Palace wish to notify the residents of Akure and its environ that all Markets and Shops in Akure should remain closed on Monday 27th August, 2018.
2. The closure becomes necessary as part of the age long tradition in observing the annual Aheregbe Festival.
3. The Palace wish to inform residents that no trading or opening of shops under any guise will be allowed.
4. Residents, Market Women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to comply with this directive.
5. However, the festival will not in anyway restrict both human and vehicular movement.
