The political atmosphere in Taraba State has started to wear a new look with the entrance of another political heavy weight in person of Chief Ezekiel Afunkoyo on Wednesday 12th September, 2018 into the state’s guber race.
Afunkoyo’s coming to the Governorship contest brings with it a big relief to the southern district of the state which has never produced the Governor of the state over the years.
As at 5th September, the Wukari born Politician had shown no sign of running for the number one seat in Taraba State until members of President Mohammadu Buhari Continuity network met in Abuja and decided to encourage some of their members, BOT, patrons and officer to contest for different political post.
According to the National Chairman of the President Muhammadu Buhari Continuity network Chief Peter Osadebay, “if you stay off the political ring, fools would continue to rule you. We are buying nomination forms for our members to encourage them and help bring sanity to our political system”
True to that saying, scores of supporters in the company of Executive members of President Muhammadu Buhari Continuity network PMBCN on Wednesday 12th of September, accompanied Chief Ezekiel I Afunkoyo to the APC national secretariat Wuse ll Abuja with a Cheque of 22.5million to purchase the governorship nomination form for him in order to be able to contest the Governorship seat of Taraba State under APC.
In a chat with newsmen, Afunkoyo promised Taraba youths a positive change in their daily life starting with rapid social economic development, invitation of foreign and local investors and entrepreneurs to boost employment and economy of Taraba State.
Chief Afunkoyo also spoke about learning of French as an important language that can help the youths in securing international appointments and better their chances relationship wise with other West African neighbors.
In his remark, the National Secretary of PMBCN, Hon. Abudlkadri Meibeza congratulated the people of Taraba for having a technocrat like Afunkoyo in the race. While affirming that Afunkoyo is a man with a huge wealth of experience both Politically and in public life, Hon. Meibeza restated if elected Chief Afunkoyo emerges as the Governor, Taraba people will have every course to thank God.
Some Taraba Youths who also spoke expressed their joy at Afunkoyo’s entrance into the Guber race.
Another member of the Group, Amb. Okey Emuchay MFR, a BOT member of PMBCN is also contesting for the Governorship seat of Abia State. Amb Emuchay is another bank of experienced that is equipped to change the situation of Abia people within the shortest time possible.
