Nigeria on Wednesday night won the bronze medal after finishing third at the ongoing 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

The testy duel decided at the Al Salam Stadium in the Egyptian capital city Cairo ended with a lone goal which settled the game in favour of the Super Eagles, thus enabling them not to end their journey in the land of the pharaohs empty-handed.

Tournament’s leading scorer Odion Ighalo struck quite early in the game, scrambling home in the third minute of play after a poor clearance by Moez Ben Cherifia at the goal mouth of the Carthage Eagles.

The Precision NG reports that the final game is between Algeria and Senegal on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium.
