Ondo To Get Fresh N7.8bn From FG

Ondo state is set to get over seven billion naira in refund from the federal government, The Precision NG learnt.

Disclosing this to State House Correspondents after the virtual FEC meeting on Wednesday, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the memo for the refund was presented by the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fasola.

Ondo state is not the only state getting a refund according to the statement by Mr Mohammed but four other states.

They are Cross River, Osun, Bayelsa and Rivers.

“The amount is a total of N148,141,987,161.25 to five states being funds spent by the states on federal road projects,” he said.

A breakdown of the refunds, per state, were as follow:

Cross River N18,394,737,608.85;
Ondo N7,822,147,577.08;
Osun N2,468,938,876.78;
Bayelsa N38,040,564,783.40 and
Rivers N78,953,067,518.29.

He, however, noted that the Council had warned that there would be no more of such refunds in future should any state government venture into projects without the nod of the federal government.
