Ondo 2020: We Are Fielding Candidate, ZLP Declares

Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Ondo State will be participating in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.

The chairman of the party, Mr Joseph Akinlaja made this known to news men after the State excos’ meeting in Akure, the State capital.

The chairman said the strategy of participation was the major discussion of the State excos’ meeting.

In his words, “the strategy of the participation is why the State excos is meeting here today to discuss”.

Mr Akinlaja added that the party would soon up with a comprehensive package about their strategy and very soon the people of Ondo State will see ZLP in the campaign train.

He also said the party will soon hold its primary to decide the party flag bearer in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state.

It would be recalled that the party opted out of the local government election which was slated to hold on April 18 this year but was later postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus.

In a related development, the state excos also visited the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Bolaji Salami, where he was enjoined to be free, fair and open to all tendencies, as Ondo prepares for election. The executives were welcomed by the police commissioner, the DC Admin, DCP AKINYEDE JOSEPH and AC Admin, ACP ROSE CHOLLUM.

The Chairman of the ZLP enjoined the police to maintain neutrality and commitment to the discharge of its duties in Ondo State. He promises that the ZLP, as a law abiding organization will work with the police and improve on the state of peace in Ondo State.
