Coup: Jonathan Leads ECOWAS Team To Mali

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday arrived Bamakko, the Capital of Mali to mediate in the ongoing crisis in the West African country.

The Precision NG reports that Dr Jonathan was accompanied to the trip by ECOWAS mediating team.

Jonathan on arriving at Mali tweeted:

“We arrived in Bamako this afternoon to continue with the Ecowas_Cedeao mediation and peace talks towards resolving Mali’s protracted political crisis and restoring normalcy in this beautiful West African country. We will continue to engage Malian stakeholders as brothers and sisters until lasting peace is found.”

Recalled that last week soldiers arrested Mali’s president Boubacer Keita in what was seen as a coup d’etat.

ECOWAS in a swift reaction ordered the military to rescind the order, calling for a return to Democratic government.
