The Lagos state government says public and private schools are to reopen for academic activities on Monday, November 2.
Similarly, the Ondo state government has announced the reopening of schools closed down one week ago.
The state governments had informed pupils to stay at home after violence broke out in the states last week following weeks of protests by youths demanding for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian Police.
In a statement on Thursday, Lagos state Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, said boarders in public schools can resume on Sunday, November 1.
“The Lagos State Government has approved the re-opening of schools for all classes in public and private schools across the State beginning from Monday, 2nd of November, 2020 while boarders in public schools are to resume on Sunday, 1st of the same month,” Adefisayo said.
In the same vein, Ondo state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Femi Agagu in a statement on Thursday said:
“Mr Governor has directed that all schools should resume on Monday 2nd November 2020 now that the State has become peaceful.
“Parents and the public are to note this directive and all schools are to comply.”
The Precision NG reports that public and private schools were previously closed for almost six months following the outbreak of COVID-19 in March.
