Members of the Cooperative Multipurpose Society of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, have elected officers that would lead the Society for the next two years.
The officers-elect are, Mr. Babatope Fagbolagun (President), Mrs. Evelyn Yeiya (Vice President), Mr. Lanre Kola-Ajibade (Treasurer), Mr. Oluwaseyi Oluwalade (General Secretary), Mr. Wilson Adepiti (Financial Secretary), and Mrs. Morenike Lawal (Ex-officio).
While the positions of President, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary were unopposed, those of Vice President, General Secretary and Ex-officio were keenly contested.
Mrs. Yeiya emerged Vice President, having polled 191 votes to defeat Mr. Cosmos Atiba who had 71 votes. Mr. Oluwalade overwhelmed Mrs. Oluwakemi Anjorin with 161 to 103 votes to emerge General Secretary, while Mrs. Morenike Lawal got the better of her opponent, Mrs. Felicia Adedeji with 167 to 95 votes to emerge Ex-officio.
Chairman of the Election Committee, Engr. John Akinrinmade, who announced the results of the election which was held in the University Multipurpose Hall, congratulated the officers-elect and charged them to give their best to serving the society.
Reacting on the outcome of the election, president Fagbolagun commended members of the society for coming out en masse to cast their ballots and for entrusting their mandates to the officers-elect. He thanked all members of the Election Committee for being thorough in the conduct of the election.
The election was witnessed by Zonal Auditor (Akoko South West) of the Ondo State Cooperative Services, Mrs. Bosede Ajayi.
