Dr Olusegun Mimiko has described the murder of the Olufon of Ifon, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Israel Adeusi, as another sad page on Nigeria’s story of insecurity and vulnerability as a society.
Mimiko, a former governor of Ondo state was reacting to the murder of the monarch who was killed by gunmen along Elegbeka road, few kilometers away from Owo town.
Mimiko who posted his reactions on his Facebook page on Friday evening, added that the King’s murder by assailants suspected to be kidnappers was both shocking and benumbing.
“Here was an urbane, gentle and debonair personality cut down in the most gruesome manner while we all appear helpless.
“I join other Nigerians in expressing my condolences to the immediate family of the departed monarch, the people of Ifon and Ondo State in general on this most regrettable incidence.
“One cannot but call on the security agencies to up their ante, moreso when the notoriety of the place in which he was attacked was known as reportedly said by the police.
“We hope and pray that hotspots of crimes like kidnapping and murder as in the case of the slayed Kabiyesi will be prioritized, going forward, for patrols and surveillance.
“We pray for the repose of the soul of the departed even as we call on the security agencies to leave no stone unturned in the effort to bring the perpetrators to book,” Mimiko appealed.
