The United States electoral college has formally ratified the victory of the democrat’s candidate, Joe Biden in the November 20 election.
Biden defeated incumbent Donald Trump by a solid majority of 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232. This was the same margin that Trumo had when he defeated Hillary Clinton four years ago.
“Once again in America, the rule of law, our Constitution, and the will of the people have prevailed. Our democracy — pushed, tested, threatened — proved to be resilient, true, and strong,” Biden said in an evening speech in which he stressed the size of his win and the record 81 million people who voted for him.
Meanwhile, Russian president, Vladimir Putin has congratulated Biden. Putin, a strong ally of Trump congratulated Biden after the electoral college ratified his victory on Monday.
Also, the US senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell has congratulated Joe Biden on his election victory.
