The high chief of Ishinigbo community in Akure North local government of Ondo state, Samuel Fadahunsi is reportedly in coma after a night attack on the community by thugs.

A resident (name withheld) of the community who spoke to The Precision NG on Friday morning confirmed the incident while alleging the high chief of Ode community, Sunday Boboye of mobilizing thugs to attack them.

The two communities (Ishinigbo and Ode) have been at loggerheads due to land disputes.

Over 100 houses were allegedly destroyed in an attack from the Ode community on Ishinigbo community.

Last week, the palace of the high chief of Ode, Sunday Boboye was razed during a protest by thugs alleged to be from the Ishinigbo side.

Chief Boboye during an interview on Thursday with newsmen gave an account of what transpired between the two communities.

“You will recall that they had destroyed the palace last week. We relocated to a new palace after normalcy returned only for the hoodlums to invade the new palace Monday night.

“I had to scale the fence of the palace with my two Oloris and members of my family. I am left with the only cloth on me. They have burnt all my properties including my vehicle which was purchased three months ago.

“This is the fifth time I will be attacked since the land dispute started after the court judgement favoured me.

“I got the court judgement in 2017 and started its execution in 2019 and the people of Isinigbo have not appealed the judgement to date.

“I have petitioned the state government, the security agencies, yet these hoodlums keep attacking me in the palace. I want the government to save my life and that of my family members.”.

Oba Boboye said that at a peace meeting recently held, both communities agreed that owners of developed land, within Ishinigbo land, which falls within the layout shall pay N100,000 to the Sao family of Igoba community in acknowledgement of their entitlement to the land.

He noted that owners of undeveloped land within the layout shall pay to Sao family of Igoba community the sum of N150,000 in acknowledgement of their entitlement to the adjudged land

The monarch said all signposts erected at Ode-Igoba community with the inscription ‘Welcome to Ishinigbo’ shall be changed to ‘This way to Ishinigbo.’

Meanwhile, secretary of the Ishinigbo community, Adeleye Rotimi, in a n interview with TheNation, said they didn’t take seriously the threat of an attack until the gunmen used another route to attack the community.

Rotimi said Oba Fadahunsi was responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

He denied the allegation of offering to pay N100, 000 to Oba Boboye to allow them to remain in their houses.

Meanwhile, two persons who said they hailed from Kogi State have been arrested by men of the 32 Artillery Brigade Owena Cantonment over the dispute between Ode and Ishinigbo.
