Joe Biden’s victory in the Electoral College has been certified by the US senate, The Precision NG reports.
Biden’s victory was confirmed by the senate led by its president and vice president of the US, Mike Pence, after passing 270 electoral votes.
The certification means Joe Biden, who was vice president to Barrack Obama (2009-2017), will be the 46th President of the United States.
Meanwhile, outgoing president Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind an orderly transition of power on January 20, 2020.
Trump stated this after the US senate certified the victory of Biden at plenary.
Trump has been bittered about the results of the election, making comments that have incited his supporters to engaging in widespread violence at the US capital city of Washington DC.
Four people were reportedly killed during the violence that erupted on Wednesday.
Trump had relied on the social media, churning out misinformation which had spurred his fans to violence.
In their reactions to Trump’s incitement, major social media channels like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat have now suspended him for 24hrs.
