Akoko Accidents: Adeogun Writes Fashola

The member Representing Akoko Southeast and Southwest Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Ade Adeogun has appealed to the federal government to help his constituents in stopping the incessant loss of lives to road accidents caused by heavy duty vehicle movements at Akungba and Iwaro townships.

Adeogun in a letter addressed to the Minister for works and housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola on Tuesday urged the Minister to Approve the construction of height barriers along the Akungba-Ikare and Isua-Oka Roads, so as to restrict traffic to non-articulated vehicles.

Adeogun also Appealed to Fashola to begin an immediate rehabilitation of the Owo-Ipele-Kabba road, in order to make it an alternative route for truck drivers.

Adeogun lamented that Twenty-seven (27) innocent lives of Ondo state citizens, most of whom were students of Adekunle Ajasin University were lost in the latest of such accidents, which occured on the 23rd of January 2021.

He added that himself and his constituents are hopeful that their requests are addressed with utmost urgency, in order to safeguard the lives of his people and prevent possible inter-ethnic conflicts that could arise from confrontations between Akoko youths who are determined to take steps to safeguard human lives and drivers of heavy lorries who believe they should be allowed unhindered access through a Public Road.
