No Securitymen as Heavy gun shot rock Ikare Akoko
Report from the ancient town of Ikare Akoko in Ondo state indicates that there is currently sporadic shooting at the heart of the town over Olokoja of Okoja chieftancy dispute.
It was gathered that the pandemonium that started yesterday has degenerated to full use of dangerous weapons like guns.
Newsmen learnt that policemen and soldiers in the town were very few at the scene as at 8:15am today to maintain law and order
The town is currently deserted as no commercial activity is taking place since yesterday’s evening.
A community leader who spoke with our reporter anonymously said all efforts to reach the State Commissioner of Police and the Commanding officer of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure had not been successful.
He called on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to prevail on the security operatives to act appropriately to further prevent loss of lives in the commercial town.
