Kemisola Ogunniyi, the 18-year-old lady who secured her bail from Prison on Tuesday has now christened her baby. The baby name is Okikiola, which means famous wealth in English.
The event held at Vera Christian Assembly, Ayedun Quarters in Akure, the Ondo State capital witnessed the presence of the wife of Ooni of Ife, Queen Naomi.
Others present at the event were, Dr Thomas Wilson-Ikubese, former Presidential aspirant and Allen Sowore, media adviser to ex Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Citizen Tosin, Ogbeni Ob Sugar and some of the major players who brought the issue of the young lady to limelight, were present at the naming ceremony.
Queen Naomi brought gift items and foodstuffs for the newborn and Kemisola, while Dr Wilson-Ikubese promised to take care of the baby’s education up to secondary level as well as provide free healthcare to Kemisola and her baby.
Earlier, counsel to Kemisola, Tope Tomekun disclosed that a bank account would be opened for the young lady, so as to get further support from well-meaning Nigerians.
“Between yesterday that Kemisola was released and this morning, I have received messages from over 50 kind-hearted Nigerians requesting for an account number to drop their widow’s mite. From the till, Kemisola could access good Medicare and get a more befittingly modest but habitable house and can return to school again and also return to her kick boxing career, with Ondo State Sports Council,” Tomekun said.
The Precision NG reports that Kemisola was arrested in Akure alongside 3 other suspects for allegedly participating in burning down the APC secretariat, during the #endSARS protest in October, 2020.
She denied the allegation leveled against her by the Police and was remanded at the Surulere Female Prison in Ondo town.
She was in the Prison for 8 months where she gave birth and subsequently granted bail by a State High Court.
