Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema has tested positive for COVID-19.
Real announced that the 33-year-old only returned to training on Thursday after a break following France’s shock elimination by Switzerland at the European Championships.
“Real Madrid C. F. confirm that our player Karim Benzema has tested positive for COVID-19.
“He will now have to self-isolate,” Real said in the statement.
Benzema will be able to return to pre-season training with his club teammates once he tests negative. The club have given no indication of whether the player has symptoms or is asymptomatic.
