Akeredolu Becomes Ondo CAN’s Patron

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ondo State chapter has conferred on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the Patron of the Association.

A statement released by Mr. Dapo Daramola, the Special Assistant on Media to the Ondo State CAN Chairman, Rev John Ayo Oladapo, noted that the award is part of the activities marking the 45th anniversary of the Association.

Rev. Oladapo noted that Governor Akeredolu is being honoured due to his commitment to the issue of security in Ondo state and Southwest in general. He is also recognized as the father of all.

He also noted that 19 other Nigerians will be honoured with award as an appreciation for propagating the Gospel and for expanding the kingdom of God.

The Chairman affirmed that the duty of man especially in CAN is to serve God, and it is a responsibility on them to appreciate those that contribute to the Gospel.

“As his servant we must appreciate those who contribute to the spread of the Gospel, promotion of peace and, capital and human development,” he noted.

He added that there are some awardees that singlehandedly built and donated church buildings to the Christian community.

“We need to appreciate them and there’s need to appreciate them,” he said.

Those that will be honoured with awards with different categories are the Ondo State deputy governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa; HRM Oba Oluwole Babajide Bamigbala 1; the OluOke of Okeigbo, HRM Oba Adefarakanmi Agbede; the Olowa of Igbara Oke, HRH Barrister Oluyemi Bajowa; the Regent of Ayeka land and Barrister Yinka Akinyosoye, the Baba Ijo of Methodist Church, Oke Agunla, Ondo etc.

Others to be awarded are Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo (BTO) and Chief Alex Ajipe, the CEO of Klick Konnect Networks International.

Recall that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was established as an umbrella body on 15th August, 1976 to promote unity among Christians in Nigeria and spread across five denominational blocs comprising the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria/Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN/CPFN), the ECWA/TEKAN and the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC).
