Man Heading To Jos With 53 AK47 Magazines, 260 Rounds Of Live Ammunition Arrested

The Joint Task Force of Police and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Akwanga Nasarawa State, has apprehended a suspect with 53 AK47 magazines and 260 rounds of live ammunition on Friday.

Likita Abubakar, 35, was reportedly apprehended on his motorbike while on his way to Jos, Plateau State.

The Precision NG reports that Plateau State has witnessed renewed violence between Irigwe community and Fulani herders, leading to the death of over 20 people.

Confirming the arrest, Public Relations Officer of Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect would be transferred, for further investigation, to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, on the order of CP Adesina Soyemi, who is the state commissioner of Police.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has ordered that, the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for thorough investigation.”

Items recovered from Likita, according to the statement, which puts him on the commands wanted list, are 53 empty magazines, 260 rounds of live ammunition and cash sum of #38,500.

POLICE PRESS RELEASE

On 21/8/2021 at about 0900hrs, sequel to information received which indicated that, a suspected criminal who has been on the wanted list of the Nasarawa State Police Command for offences ranging from Armed robbery to Kidnapping was sighted at Alushi Junction, Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State, a detachment of Police operatives attached to Akwanga Division were immediately deployed to the area.

Consequently, one Likita Abubakar ‘M’ 35 years was arrested; upon diligent and systematic search, 53 empty magazines, 260 rounds of live ammunition and cash sum of #38,500 was recovered from him as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi has ordered that, the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for thorough investigation.
