GETS 4.0: Akinribido Gives Started-Up Kits To Trainees At Annual Skills Acquisition Programme

The Honorable Member Representing Ondo West Constituency 1 at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Tomide Leonard Akinribido has presented start-up kits and equipments to participants of his annual skills acquisition programme at a brief graduation ceremony.

The event which held at the Akiavic Event Hall, Ondo City, on Wednesday 25th August 2021, was attended by by the Ondo West Local Govt Chairman who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Rasaq Olayiwola.

Also in attendance was the Member representing Ondo west constituency 2 in the state assembly – Hon. Wale Williams, the former member Representing Ondo West constituency 1 – Hon. Afolabi Akinsiku, a former Ondo West LG Chairman – Hon. Victor Ogunya, and the ZLP Ondo West Chairman – Mr. Clement Ijilegan and Chief F. A. Akingbulugbe.

Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said he had promised during his campaign for office to enhance human capital development within his constituency,hence he was happy to fulfill the promise.

He also noted that skills acquisition had become essential due to the prevalent high level of unemployment in the country. He stated that 100 ladies were shortlisted for the training programme which lasted for 3 months, but only 68 of the ladies completed the programme and wrote the final examination.

Hon. Akinribido noted that the selection process of the participants and beneficiaries was completely devoid of politics, adding that the participants are unknown to him.

The lawmaker further promised to continue sponsorship of the programme in order to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship within his constituency which informed his decision to not only sponsor the training of the ladies but also to buy equipments and kits for them to start their personal business.

Hon. Akinribido and the CEO of Jewel Fashion House were later joined by the invited guests to present start-up kits and equipments to the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries in Fashion designing class got brand new sewing machines, while those in hair dressing class got brand new hair dryers and other kits needed for home services, and those in make-up artistry class were given brand new Make-up box containing materials needed.

Also present at the event were youth leaders across the kingdom including; Mr. Ayodeji Kashoki – ZLP Ondo West youth leader, Mr. Olusola Akinbinu – OEYC Coordinator 1 and Mr. Lucas Kakaki – EYC President.
