The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has admonished youths especially corps members to create bond of unity and oneness among each other.

The State Coordinator gave the admonition on Monday during the Swearing in ceremony for the 2021 Batch ‘B’ (Stream 1) corps members deployed to Ondo State.

Mrs Ani charged the new entrants into the NYSC Hall of Fame to mix freely and ensure that they respect other peoples’opinion and restrain themselves from forcing their ideas on others even if their argument is superior under any given circumstance.

“Your ability to accommodate their divergent views and live peacefully with them is an assurance that under the right atmosphere, the youths will take us to safe haven”.

The State Coordinator disclosed that the orientation course is packaged among other things, to introduce them to the objectives and programmes of the NYSC Scheme, prepare them for the challenges of service and post service life, as well as to acquaint them with their new socio-cultural environment as corps members.

“The orientation camp is a beautiful place to stay if you have a positive outlook. You have been deployed to NYSC Camps nationwide to learn more about leadership abilities and how best to solve collective problems”.

“I want to let you know that the contents of the orientation course have been scientifically packaged to prepare you physically, emotionally, mentally and psychologically to learn the rudiments of sacrifice and commitment which the national service is all about”.

The State Coordinator hinted that the corps members would be exposed to series of extra curricular camp activities that will make their stay exciting, rewarding, memorable and fulfilling.

She appealed to the corps members to embrace Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development SAED programme introduced by the Scheme nine years ago to reduce the rate of unemployment.

“You will be exposed to various skills and vocations that will change your life for better. Kindly embrace the eleven (11) days intensive in-camp training and you are on your way to be celebrated as entrepreneurs and captains of industries in the mould of Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga and many more”.

The NYSC helmsman in Ondo, the Sunshine State warned them to face the business that has brought them to the state and appealed that they should live a decent life devoid of ostentatious lifestyle which may expose them to being soft target for attacks.

The Ondo State NYSC boss said that the security situation in the country is of grave concern to everyone and admonished them to protect their lives first above all other considerations.

“My most treasured children in the service to our dear fatherland, it is imperative that I strongly advise you to take your personal security seriously and with unflinching sensitivity. On our part, we shall continue to liaise with security chiefs from time to time so that the security architecture and network apparatus put in place remains dynamic and rigid”.

Mrs. Ani asserted that because of the value NYSC placed on corps members’ precious lives, the management provided infrared thermometers, hand sanitisers, face masks, wash hand basins as well as liquid soaps in all the 37 NYSC Secretariats and at strategic locations at orientation camps.

She allayed the fears and assured the parents and guardians of the corps members that there is no cause for alarm as the Scheme remained alive to its core responsibility of catering for the welfare, well-being and security of corps members.

The Chief Judge of Ondo State who was represented by Honourable Justice Oluwafeyisayo Kuteyi, PhD administered the Oath of Allegiance on the 747 makes and 903 females reported for service in Ondo State.
