Young Hearts Alive Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation, on Monday paid tuition of some brilliant indigent pupils in some public primary schools in Ondo State.

Some schools visited are St, Jame’s primary school, in Oda town, St. John’s primary school, Oba ile and St. Jame’s primary school, Oke Aro, Akure.

Mr Femi Fatuyi, founder of the NGO who was represented by Mr. Timilehin Ogunsulire said the purpose of paying the fees of the pupils was to encourage learning and ensure the children have access to quality education.

He further stated that the economic situation of the country prompted him to do it, as many people are facing hardship in the country.

“The impact of COVID-19 pandemic affected many families in Ondo State who cannot pay their children school fees after resumption, that is why we decided to support them.” He said.

“We are planning to go to other public schools in different local government areas of Ondo State soon. We need to do this to encourage education at the grassroots and support parents who face difficulties in training their children”, he added.

According to him, “The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in charge of public primary schools has been doing a lot to improve standards in schools in the state. But we discovered that a lot of things still needed to be done and these cannot be done by government alone, hence the need for collaboration such as this.”

He assured that the Young Hearts Alive “will continue to support government schools and pupils and also continue to pay the fees of every best pupil from Primary 3 to Primary 6 every session. And we would also give them educational materials such as Exercise books and other writing materials.”

Mrs Olufunke Oluwalade, Headmistress, St James primary school, Oda commended the foundation for supporting and contributing to the development of the pupils.

“We realise that this NGO is ready for us and we appreciate its contribution to the school and our pupils. This contribution is a thing of joy and will go a long way because some of our pupils do not have money to pay their school fees.”

“We really appreciate Young Hearts Alive Foundation for the kind gesture, she said.
