Kaduna based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi and few Northern elites recently visited Igboho town in Oyo State.

Igboho is the headquarters of Orelope Local Government Area of the State and also the town of popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho.

The Precision NG reports that the town became more famous due to the activism of Sunday Igboho, which centered on the need for the creation of a Yoruba Nation. He is currently in prison in Benin Republic, a neighboring nation to Nigeria.

His imprisonment in Benin Republic followed the destruction of his home by the Nigerian government, which made him to run for his life. He was arrested by the Beninese authority while on his way to Germany.

During the visit, Gumi in a 1.45 minutes video posted on his Facebook profile, descried Igboho has a Muslim town and expressed the belief that with what he saw in the town, there’s no reason why Nigerians should clamour for the country’s separation.

In the video, Gumi also showed a herd of Cattle grazing on the field. He then asked one of his co-travellers, Prof. Usman Yusuf to share his experience.

Prof. Yusuf who described Igboho as a town made famous by a detainee in Benin Republic, said Nigerians should see themselves as one.

Standing in front of a signage which read, “Muslim Grammar School Modeke Igboho”, Prof. Yusuf said they were earlier at Ilesa in Osun State where they saw Churches and Mosques mingling together.

“That’s the Nigerian spirit of unity which we grew up to know and not of disunity as championed by Sunday Igboho and his ilks.

“The people need to know that we are one and that the elites are the ones dividing us,” he said.
