The Federal Polytechnic Ile Oluji (FEDPOLEL) in Ondo State on Thursday got its first ever executive officers (excos) to oversee the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in the institution.
The Precision NG reports that FEDPOLEL was established in 2014 by the Federal Government.
After the election conducted by NASU officials led by its National General Secretary, Comrade Peters Adeyemi, represented by his deputy, Comrade Augustine Ageva, Hammed Omuiyadun of the Works and Services department of the Polytechnic emerged the Chairman after polling 73 votes.
Omuiyadun defeated his opponent Rasaq Olajide of the Audit department who polled 16 votes.
The new excos were later sworn in by the NASU State Chairman, Comrade Adebayo Obayoriade, who represented Comrade Ageva.
Names of the elected maiden NASU executives of FEDPOLEL are as follows:

Mrs Akinwumi Oluwafunmilola – Ex-officio
Reacting, the pioneer NASU Chairman of FEDPOLEL, Comrade Omuiyadun disclosed that the union would prioritize diplomatic approach and mutual bargaining over egregious confrontation.
“It is only the land of peace that germinates the seed of progress and development. We appreciate the school management for allowing the manifestation of democratic working environment while urging the management to see the staff Union as partner in progress and not a menace that will hinder development,” he said.
On its part, the FEDPOLEL management represented by the Deputy Rector, Mr Adeolu Olawuni assured the new excos of cooperation and urged them to always dialogue with the management in every matters of concern.
He assured them that management will not relent in her effort to cater for the wellbeing of staff and development of the institution.
The Precision NG understands that the pioneer excos of NASU at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo would also be inaugurated on Thursday, October 28.
