94 students of Achievers University, Owo, who graduated during the 2020/2021 academic session have been inducted into the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
The induction ceremony was witnessed by the Registrar of the Council, Dt Tosan Erhabor, represented Dr Mufutau Azeez.
The Registrar while administering the induction and oath-taking process, enjoined the new inductees to uphold the ethics of the profession.
The induction was followed by the presentation of licences to the inductees.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Aje encouraged the new inductees to put to practice what they have learnt during their five-year training in the University.
Also, the acting head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Dr Olabisi Oduwole, enjoined the new inductees to remember the virtues and culture of integrity they have learnt while in the University. She urged them to always keep in touch with the Department.
Abdulbasit Abdulrahman, the best inductee in his vote of thanks, appreciated the University management for providing them with the platform to excel. He called for a full-time mentor-ship programme where students are paired with academic researchers, aimed at enhancing capacity development.
The guest lecturer, Prof. Wellington Oyibo, called for more dedication and diplomatic approach in the face of daunting challenges to solve the many challenges facing the profession.
In his remarks, Dr Bode Ayorinde, the Pro-Chancellor of Achievers University, charged the new inductees to remain good ambassadors of the institution.
He disclosed that some students in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science who were found wanting for indiscipline were rusticated, adding that under no condition should a medical student be exhibiting non-challant attitude.
