The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fined the Department of State Service (DSS) for holding on to Omoyele Sowore’s Two mobile phones and the sum of N10000.

The DSS has been in possession of Sowore’s phones and money in the last Two years.

The Court judgement was handed down by Justice Anwuli Chikere, who ruled that the DSS cannot held on to a citizen’s property for Two years for no reason, adding that it is tantamount to breach of his right to own property under section 44 of the Nigeria’s constitution as amended.

Mrs Funmi Falana was Sowore’s led counsel during the hearing.

In his reaction on his Facebook profile, Omoyele posted:

“Federal High Court in Abuja rules that lawless DSS had no right to seize my mobile phones during my 2019 illegal arrest and detention in Lagos. The judgement was handed down by Justice Anwuli Chikere.”
