South African anti-apartheid icon, Desmond Tutu is dead.
Archbishop Tutu died on boxing day at age 90.
Confirming his death, the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation wrote on its social media handles:
“We send our deepest condolences to Mama Leah and the Tutu family on the death of our beloved Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
“We are devastated that the Arch is no longer with us, but his passing has strengthened our resolve to spread his warmth and compassion further afield than we ever thought possible. He has left us with a truly remarkable legacy and we will honour it for as long as we can.
“We invite all who were touched by the Archbishop’s life and legacy to share their thoughts and experiences on our website at www.tutulegacy.com.”
