Ondo: Aladenola Harps On Regular Training To Drive Healthcare Delivery

The Department of Planning, Research, and Statistics of the Ministry of Health has organized a 3-Day Capacity Building Workshop for the Management and Senior Staff of the ministry.


The workshop which had as its theme “Efficiency and Productivity In The Work Place For Effective Service Delivery” had facilitators drawn from the Big Team Resource Consultancy Services Limited of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Declaring the workshop open, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist (Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola averred that the training workshop is designed to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity in health care delivery in Ondo State.

Aladenola said the theme of the workshop is apt as it is intended to raise the competence and performance level of management and senior staff in the ministry.


The Permanent Secretary urged the participants to pay rapt attention to the contents of the training workshop and make it participatory and interactive in order to achieve better outcomes.

Aladenola urged all officials in the health sector of the state to embrace collaborations and synergy towards ensuring overall qualitative health care delivery for the people of the state.

In his lecture titled “Efficiency and Productivity In The Work Place”, one of the facilitators at the workshop, Mr. Ikechukwu Chikwe described efficiency and productivity as crucial in achieving organizational goals.

According to him, proper planning and scheduling of work activities keep officials on track in accomplishing the desired goals.
Chikwe stressed the need for management and senior staff to always ensure effectiveness in the course of performing their duties by focusing on tasks that are urgent and important.

He equally advocated the culture of prioritizing tasks saying such prioritization prevents excessive interruptions to work schedule.


Also speaking at the training workshop, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Uche Odionyenma described the workshop as timely as it is in line with the effective health care and efficient service delivery components of the eight-point development agenda of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN -led administration code-named “REDEEMED “.

Odionyenma highlighted the objectives of the training workshop to include enhancing efficiency in the workplace towards improving productivity, engendering good workplace communication, and refreshing participants’ knowledge in computing and information management systems among several others.

The Director said it is expected that participants will further step down the training at their various units towards enhancing efficient services at the workplace with a view to promoting effective health care delivery to the people of Ondo State.

A cross-section of participants at the training workshop expressed optimism that the new knowledge acquired will translate to better productivity and efficiency at their various departments.
