Two years after his tragic demise in a fatal accident along the Akure-Ondo road, colleagues and friends of late broadcaster, Oluwafemi Sotonwa popularly known as Sweet Steve have remembered him with an outreach to a shelter, The Ark Children Home.
During the outreach to the Shelter at Ikota in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state, food items donated include a bag of rice, cartons of noddles, macaroni toiletries, pampers and soft drinks.
The train which included many on-air-personalities, and entertainers in the state was led by the Chief Operations Officer of Crest FM, Mr Adeolu Gboyega.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, Mr Gboyega said the gesture made possible through the widowsmite of the late broadcaster’s friends is to keep alive his memory.
He said the late Sotonwa epitomised excellence, philanthropism and good deeds which is why a good way to remember him is the token of love occasioned by the visit.
He thanked the Shelter for its efforts in addressing societal malaise, particularly as it affects vulnerable children.
Receiving the items, the founder of the Shelter, Mr Emmanuel Adaramola thanked the team for using the visit to remember their late friend, whom he described as a broadcaster par excellence.
Mr Adaramola said the visit was also historic for the children in the home because it provided them a rare opportunity to meet many of the top broadcasters and journalists they had always seen on television or heard on radio.
He said the benevolence will go a long way in meeting the needs of the Shelter, especially during this yuletide and sought more of such support from well meaning people in society.
