The member representing Ile-oluji/ Oke-igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency in Ondo state, Mayowa Akinfolarin has sponsored a bill for the establishment of Federal Road Safety Corps Command and Staff College Ibadan.

Akinfolarin said the bill became imperative over concerns on the need for the establishment of a high level specialized training institution for road managers in the country.

Akinfolarin who also chairs the Federal Road Safety Corps committee while presenting the bill for the second reading, said the College when operational will serve as a high level training centre for FRSC personnel on traffic management in line with best practices.

He explained that personnel of strategic sister agencies, relevant ministries, departments and agencies of FRSC will benefit from the use of the college.

He added that the facility will also serve as a centre for research in road traffic administration and other related matters.

Akinfolarin’s arguments for the establishment of the specialized traffic management center was seconded by Rep. Oluyemi Taiwo representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Oyo.

The bill has scaled through the second reading stage on the floor of the green chamber and committed to the committee of Federal Road Safety Corps, FSRC.
