Comrade Adeleye Adebayo also known as Marshall has emerged Chairman of the first executive officers (Excos) of Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo.
Other members elected are Secretary, Comrade Oluwagbenga Dolire and Treasurer, Comrade Janet Ayeni.
The exercise also saw five staff of the University becoming ex officio member. They are Comrade Racheal Adeyemi, Comrade Lanre Oyebade, Comrade Dominic Akinkuade, Comrade Margaret Akintujoye and Comrade Remigius Ordinachi.
The inauguration of NASU at UNIMED was witnessed by top Excos of the union who administered the oath of office on Comrade Adebayo led Excos.
Comrade ‘Damola Adelekun, Senior Assistant General Secretary (Universities) represented Prince Adeyemi Peters, who is the General Secretary of NASU nationwide.
The national NASU were supported by the home body led by Comrade Adebayo Obayoriade, State Chairman and Comrade Sanusi Adewale, Senior State Secretary
Also at the event were NASU members from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo and NIEPA Ondo.
The new Chairman, Comrade Adebayo in his acceptance speech, promised to carry every member along in the adminstration of the union.
Earlier, Dr Wole Ekundayo, Registrar of UNIMED, who represented the management enjoined the new excos to always follow due process in demanding for their rights.
He said the management will continue to give every union in the institution a level playing ground for discussion.
