Within a month this year, two incidents of herders-farmers bloody clashes have been reported in the agrarian community of Ikakumo a border town in Akoko North East Local Government of Ondo State.
The latest is Mr Benjamin Babatunde a 77-year-old farmer who was badly macheted by suspected herdsmen in Ikakumo Akoko.
The victim was in his farm when the bandits approached him demanding for money and the farmer said he had no money in the farm, the next thing was the daggers they brought and macheted the farmer. They left him in the pool of blood thinking he was dead.
The victim is already receiving treatment in an undisclosed health facility.
It would be recalled that last two weeks, a middle aged farmer was also macheted in Ikakumo when they plucked his Cashew nuts.
The two cases have been reported to the police in Ikare Akoko.
Both Area Commander of Police, ACP Muri Agboola and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO Ikare confirmed the case, saying investigation is on to unravel and arrest the culprits.
