Democracy Day: Hon. Abiola Makinde Urges Nigerians To Uphold Democratic Values

Member House of Representatives, Hon Abiola Peter Makinde, representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency has wished Nigerians well on June 12 celebration also known as Democracy day.

In a statement released through Alli Moshood Abiodun, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon Abiola Makinde emphasized the importance of continuing to uphold our democratic values as a nation and also to remain committed to the joint efforts of our national heroes that formed the realisation of our country.

In his words, “Happy Democracy Day Nigerians. Today, June 12 marks another democracy day anniversary and an occasion to celebrate freedom and unity of our nation.We celebrate the salient contributions of our founding fathers, who paid the price through their selfless efforts to give us a system that gives voice and power to the people.

Over the years we have worked to thrive, and to our credits, we have many success stories to share. Even as we look forward to the future,I enjoin us to embrace one another, giving way to peace and unity to thrive.

With our persistent and committed efforts, we shall collectively bring forth the beauty of our democratic system.”

Conclusively, Hon Makinde also used the opportunity to remember the victims if terror attack in Owo community and urged Nigerians to take a moment to say a prayer for their families as they go through pain and difficult times and that may the Almighty strengthen our leaders as they step up the fight against terrorism and criminal elements in our society.
