The Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria, Ondo State Council has commiserated with Governor-Arakunrin, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Olowo of Owo- Oba Gbadegesin, families of those who lost loved ones, the Catholic Church, the Senior Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties and the entire people of our dear Sunshine State, on the sad and dastard killing of innocent worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, last Sunday.
Chairman, Comrade Helen Odofin and Secretary, Comrade Nneke Ikechukwu, in a statement said:
“The Congress views the action of this evil, blood thirsty gunmen as an affront to the governor who has shown capacity in all ramifications in securing lives and properties of the good and peace loving people of the State.
“We are saddened to the marrows that these men could do this in the house of God and being the first time the State is witnessing such wickedness coming from “these animals” in human skin.
“We also use this medium to urge all law abiding citizens to be vigilant while encouraging the security agencies in the State to be gallant and by God’s grace these wicked souls will be apprehended.”
Similarly, the leadership of the Muslim students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) B-Zone, joined other meaningful Nigerians to condemn this callous act in totality and sympathize with the families of the victims of the incident.
“We received the news of attack on the worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State on Sunday 5th of June 2022 with rude shock and extreme sorrow and grief. May Allah grant relief to our hearts.
“The attack is one among several other atrocities caused by cowards hiding under the identity of “unknown individuals”, hence, an attack like this is an attack on all the citizens of the nation and we should all be committed to put a stop to the evil hunting us all. The popular proverb says “the death an acquaintance is passing a relevant message to one.
“We wish to advise government functionaries at all levels to continue to give their best to ensure safety and security to all the citizens in this country. The incessant attacks on the citizens has to stop.
“This attack and others should be thoroughly investigated by the concerned security agencies and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to book and justice is served.
“The MSSN B-Zone hereby use this medium to convey her condolence to the people and government of Ondo state, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the good people of Owo town, leadership, and members of St. Francis Catholic Church, and the families of the victims of the attack.
“May Allah in His infinite mercy comforts the bereaved and grant us peace and safety in our nation.”
