The authority of the Odeda Local Government area of Ogun State has issued a letter announcing Chief Olusegun Macgregor as the traditional ruler-elect of the Orile Ilawo Alagbagba, Odeda local government area of Ogun State.
His appointment was announced vide a letter No CHM II/4/145, dated 22nd August 2022 and CHM II/4/154 dated 29th of September 2022, which was forwarded to the Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy matter.
In a letter signed by the Secretary to Odeda Local Government, Makinde Zacheus Adio on behalf of the council chairman, it was gathered, has been forwarded to Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba(Dr) Adedapo Tejuoso for his consent for onward transmission to the Ogun State Government.
The letter titled ‘Filing of the vacant stool of Olu of Orile Ilawo’, recalled that consequent upon the directive of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Office of the Executive Governor vide letter No CHM II/4/145 of 22nd August 2022 and CHM II/4/154 of 29th of September 2022, a process was put in place
‘Consequent upon the directive of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Office of the Executive Governor vide letter No CHM II/4/145 of 22nd August 2022 and CHM II/4/154 of 29th of September 2022 on the above-stated subject (copy attached marked Annexure A and B). I am on instruction to inform Kabiyesi that action has commenced in earnest on the above-mentioned subject’, the letter reads
‘Kabiyesi, the State Government approved the appointment of nine (9) warrant chiefs for the selection process since there is no chieftaincy declaration and in compliance with the directive, the Local Government issued (14) days’ public notice with effect from Tuesday, 4th of October, 2022 (see Annexure C)’, the letter added.
‘Moreover, at the meeting convened on Thursday, 13th October 2022 at Kegunmela, Chief Olufade Anthony Ajani who presided over the meeting called for the nomination of candidate(s) to fill the vacant stool of OLU of ORILE ILAWO’.
‘The sons and daughters of Orile Ilawo nominated Chief Olusegun Alexander Macgregor upon the nomination made by Mr Kashimawo Aremu Bakare, General Secretary CDA, Oke Abelu Ilawo supported by Mrs Khadijat Badejo, all and sundry.
‘Thereafter, in absence of other nominations, the Osi Ilawo called for the election of the candidate by the six (6) Warrant Chiefs present.
The result of the Election was collated and Chief Olusegun Alexander Macgregor polled six(6) votes and his name was announced as the winner.
He was later presented with the certificate elections as Oba elect, (see Annexure 3)’.

Once your consent is given Kabiyesi, all documents related to the appointment shall be forwarded to the Executive Governor for consideration and approval, please. Dr. Alexander MacGregor obtained his Ph.D. in clinical pharmacology from the University of London Postgraduate Medical School after earning honors in medical biochemistry from the University of Wales.

Dr. Alexander MacGregor moved to Ontario, Canada in 1990 to assume the role of managing director of Transpharm International UK Ltd., a scientific enterprise specializing in clinical testing and pharmaceutical drug licensing. Throughout the decade, Dr. Alexander MacGregor functioned as a consultant to major pharmaceutical industries in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Dr. Alexander MacGregor currently divides his time between TIFT, one of North America’s leading postgraduate pharmaceutical and research organizations, and ORx Pharmaceutical Corporation, where he serves as chairman and Chief Scientific Officer.
In the latter capacity, Dr. MacGregor designs and develops clinical delivery methods of therapeutic compounds. At TIPT, Dr. Alexander MacGregor runs a highly regarded training program in pharmaceutical sciences and technology. More than 2,600 successful TIPT graduates operate in all areas of the pharmaceutical industry including quality control analysis, regulatory affairs administration, clinical quality control, and clinical data review.
The holder of several scientific patents, Dr. Alexander MacGregor currently oversees clinical testing trials of several drugs in the areas of cholesterol lowering, diabetes, anti-infective, post-operative pain, epilepsy, and congestive heart failure.
An active humanitarian within the African-Canadian community, Dr. Alexander MacGregor supports such organizations as the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) and the Association of Black Law Enforcers (ABLE). Dr. Alexander MacGregor also donates generously to charities such as the United Way and the Nelson Mandela Children’s fund.
