Despite the initial tension that was witnessed around the Ikare Central Mosque earlier on Friday afternoon, the Chief Imam of Ikare Akoko, Alhaji Abubakri Abbas Muhammed led the congregants in the Jumat service.

Precision Online Newspaper had reported that security personnel were deployed to the premises of the mosque as at 12noon on Friday to forestall the break down of law while the worship centre was locked.

But fillers received from residents of the ancient town indicated that the jumat service was observed.

It was also gathered that the Muslim Council Chairman and his Secretary, who had issued a controversial sack letter to the Imam, were present for the prayers.

A resident of Ikare by the name Adebayo who spoke with Precision via a telephone chat, confirmed that the Imam prayed the Friday prayers under tight security presence.

According to him, those who issued the controversial letter sacking the Imam were all present at the service.
