Update: Ikare Central Mosque Locked Over Imam Crisis

The Ikare Akoko central mosque is under lock as Muslims in Nigeria prepares for today’s Friday Jumat Service.

Precision Online Newspaper gathered that the mosque is now guarded by armed policemen and soldiers in order forestall a break down of the law.

News filtered in on Thursday that there was tension in the ancient town over the sack of the Chief Imam, Alhaji Abubakri Abbas Muhammed.

A development the league of Imams and Alfas in the State rejected, adding that the status quo must be maintained since the government white paper on the matter is already out.

The Ikare Muslim Council noted that the Chief Imam was sacked after the council arrived at the decision on October 9, 2022.

The letter sacking the Imam was signed by the Council’s chairman, Adewale Jimoh Abayomi and the secretary, Alhaji R. Aiyegbusi.
