Former Akure NBA Chairman, Olorunfemi Sues Sahara Reporters Over False Publication

A-One-Billion Naira libel suit has been filed against Saharareporters, an online news medium over false and malicious publication concerning the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Akure Branch, Mr Rotimi Olorunfemi.

In the suit, a copy made available to newsmen in Akure, Ondo State capital, Saharareporters was alleged to have in a March 10, 2023 edition made a publication of a N3b scam by a House of Representatives Member-elect from Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, Mr Kolawole Akinlayo.

The suit filed by Mr Olorunfemi through Chief Ademuyiwa Adeniyi, SAN & Co. is demanding among other things, a sum of one billion naira for libel, apologies and a retraction publication in two national dailies.

Failure to do so, according to the suit will attract full legal battle.

Saharareporters had in the said publication alleged that the former Akure NBA Chairman was involved in the acclaimed scam as a lawyer to the Reps Member-elect, Akinlayo.

The suit claimed that Saharareporters failed to hear from Mr Olorunfemi and maliciously published the story without contacting the concerned person.
