Just In: Mali And Burkina Faso Instruct Military Forces To Be Ready To Defend Niger Territory

Mali and Burkina Faso have issued joint statement authorizing their armed forces to intervene on Niger’s territory in case of a foreign attack.

The west African bloc, ECOWAS have already announced its readiness to attack Niger following a coup in the country last month.

The military junta in Niger have also expressed their readiness to defend their country.

According to the resolution of ECOWAS, Niger has been mandated to return power to democracy, but the junta in Niger has stated it would only relinquish power in three years.

Recently, the African Union also passed a resolution to suspend Niger from its members following the coup which saw former Nigerien President, Mahmoud Bazoum ousted from power.
