With the recent operationalization of the Ondo State Drug and Health Commodities Management Agency (ODCHMA), all is now set for smooth and quality drug distribution in the state as the Agency has begun to take delivery of Drugs and Health Commodities from Licensed and approved Vendors.
The Agency was established by the Ondo State Government to improve access to essential drugs and health commodities and to ensure availability of high-quality drugs in the State at very affordable prices.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist ( Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola visited the Central Medical Store Annex in Akure, the State capital, to supervise and coordinate the efforts of the agency to provide lasting solution towards healthcare commodity security across tertiary, secondary and primary healthcare facilities within the state.
Speaking of the benefit the people of the state would derive from the agency, the Permanent Secretary noted that the agency would ensure affordable drugs and Health commodities that would address the menace of low-quality drugs in circulation and drug stockouts in the government health facilities across the State.
She appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN CON for the determination to make life easier for the people of the state through the state’s initiative to negotiate with the pharmaceutical companies to bring down the prices of drugs and Health commodities in the light of subsidy removal for benefit of the people of the state.
Aladenola therefore urged government health facilities in the state to synergize with the agency to access quality and affordable drugs and health commodities for the benefits of the people of the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Pharm. (Dr) Amos Ayegbusi while taking delivery of the Drugs and Health Commodities said the Agency would bring proper coordination into drug management in the state as committee has been set up in all the facilities for proper synergy. He explained that the agency would in no small measure guarantee the availability of high-quality drugs for individuals and institutions and the stability of prices of medical supplies within the state.
