The State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs Adelayo Adefolalu and other Management staff on Friday paid an official visit to the Ondo State Commissioner for Environment Hon. Sunday Akinwalire.
The visit was to submit a working document as complied by the Agency on recent environmental challenges and Report on flood prone areas across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
Mrs Adefolalu informed the Commissioner in her address on the working relationship of NOA and NIMET to sensitize the public on weather forecast that there will be heavy downpour of rain in some States and Ondo State inclusive in order to avoid flooding and to take precautionary measures to avoid flooded environment which can result into destruction of properties and loss of lives.
She emphasized that the working document which is inclusive will assist the Ministry in it’s policy formulation and actions to be taken on Environmental challenges.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sunday Akinwalire in his response welcomed the NOA team and also appreciated the good work of the agency. He said having predicted Ondo State as one of the flood prone states, the Ministry have taken proactive steps to curb the dangers inherit in flooding.
The Honorable Commissioner thanked the Governor of Ondo State who have provided 3 excavators to work round the clock in all nooks and crannies of the State in clearing and dredging water ways, Canals, Rivers, blocked Channels and drainages in other to allow free flow of erosions.
He therefore appreciated the efforts and the working document presented by the NOA team and applauded the Agency for a job well done and assured more collaboration and synergy with the Agency.
