Dr. Falana Gbenga John Foundation at the weekend on the occasion of 2023 Ijare day celebration kicked off the disbursement of bursary awards to students of Anglican Grammar School Ijare (AGSI).
The event held on Saturday, November 11 at the school’s playing field brought together notable sons and daughters of Ijare.
Ijare is a town and headquarters of the newly created Ijare local government development area by the Ondo State Government.
The bursary award was announced to 10 students of the school who are indigents.
Announcing the disbursement, Mr Tunde Awe, who is a close friend of Dr. Falana, encouraged other students to strive towards excellence in their studies.
Mr Awe appealed to parents of the students to make use of the bursary award judiciously and for the children’s educational development.
A total of 500,000 naira was disbursed to the students by the Dr Falana Gbenga John Foundation.
In a chat with Precision Online Newspaper, Dr. Falana who is a New York based Physical Therapist promised to do more for the students, as the AGSI is his alma mater.
He added that G-7 Members of AGSI 1978-1983 set USA Chapter will soon commission a new block of four classroom in the school.
The bursary awards to the students is not the first time Dr. Falana will be supporting the school, as his 1978-1983 set, last year during their third reunion organized fundraising that was channeled to the infrastructural development of AGSI.
Mrs Olubajo, Principal of AGSI was full of praises for Dr. Falana. She prayed for God’s continuous blessings on him and his family members.
Some of the students who spoke with Precision Online Newspaper thanked Dr Falana Gbenga John Foundation for supporting their educational development. They promised to continue to strive for excellence.
