Achievers University, Owo has gotten approval to start Achievers College of Nursing Sciences in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
This is contained in a letter by Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar, Registrar/CEO of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria on Wednesday.
The letter read in part;
“Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in pursuant to Section 14 (Sub-section 1&2) of the Act 143, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (2004) has approved the accreditation of Achievers College of Nursing Sciences, Akure, Ondo State.
“In the light of that, I wish to convey the approval of the Coordinating Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare for the college to commence training as follows:
a. General Nursing Programme.
b. Midwifery Programme.
“Please note that details of the accreditation report containing observations and recommendations will be forwarded later,” the letter read.
Established in 2007, Achievers University has contributed to Nigeria’s development by offering health sciences programmes in medical laboratory science, public health and nursing sciences.
The latest addition to that being medicine, pharmacy and physiotherapy.
Precision Online Newspaper reports that Achievers College of Nursing Sciences is located opposite the Federal College of Agriculture (FECA), along Fiwasaye-Agbogbo road.
