“My heart grieves on the news of the untimely passage of our dear Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. He was a perfect gentleman and exceptional leader with enviable track record. On behalf of the Executive Council and the entire members of the EKSU Alumni Association, Ondo State Chapter, I condole with the bereaved family, his associates and the good people of Ondo state on this colossal loss.
“Aketi as he is popularly called will be remembers for his gallantry and positive contributions to the society. During his term as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), he was a passionate defender of the rights of the common man. He was an apostle and promoter of a peaceful, fair and just society
“In his capacity as the governor of Ondo state, our dear Arakunrin was a purposeful, visionary and goal-oriented leader. His sincerity, openness and promise-keeping traits endeared him to many, and earned him the appellation of the “Mr. Talk and Do” Governor.
“His outstanding and unique leadership qualities elevated him to the status of the Chairman of the South-West Governors; and later the Chairman of Southern Nigeria Governors’ Forum. He was a true democrat and a father figure whose courage to fearlessly express his candid opinions on critical national issues, maintain objective stand and take a decisive step during important moments ranked him higher than his contemporaries.
“Undoubtedly, this is a trying time for us as the vacuum caused by Aketi’s demise will be hard to fill, and the pain will forever be in our hearts. But we take solace in the fact that death is a debt we will all pay someday. Aketi lived an impactful life, he fulfilled his divine mission on earth and has gone to rest with his maker. May his determined and fearless soul find eternal rest” Doubra said
While praying for the repose of the soul of the late governor, Doubra also prayed that the good Lord will grant his immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
