Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu has given an update about the fire incident at Mandilas Building on Sunday evening.
“I would like to provide an update as relayed by our on-ground teams regarding the warehouse fire at Mandilas Building, Broad Street, Lagos Island.
“The fire originated on the 1st floor and got to the 4th. Currently, our brave teams from Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations are actively engaged in firefighting operations.
“The cause is yet to be determined, but investigations are underway. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
“I’d like to urge everyone to remain calm as all of our first responders are working hard to bring the situation to a complete halt.
“I salute our incredible firefighting teams and other first responders, including security personnel. Your dedication is unmatched as you face this challenge head-on,” Sanwo-olu posted on his Facebook page.
Also, a media aide to the Governor, Jubril Gawat just few moments ago on his Facebook profile, also reported that the Firefighting operations has since moved to dampen down of pockets of Fire, occasioned by the wares stacked in various floors of the 17 storey building consisting of fashion items such as clothings, shoes etc.
“The remains of the Fire which is of no threat is being suppressed within the tight working environment as Firemen faced the challenges of accessibility.
“The Biggest fire has cleared the fire from the front but the truck couldn’t enter into the Market, the other truck is handling what’s left from the back,” Gawat noted.
