A 34-year-old lady from Idogun In Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, battling with mouth cancer, has appealed for the urgent help of Nigerians to secure medical treatment.

Ogundare Funke, in dire need of N3m for treatment, had last year written to Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu and other well-meaning Individuals from the State, but her assiduous efforts to garner fund yielded no result.

Currently at home, subjected to alternative herbal care, Funke is passing through excruciating pains and the enormous lump on her mouth caused by cancer has significantly increased, disfiguring the once pretty lady.

In her letter, she said, “I Ogundare Funke, a 34 yeal old indigene of Idogun, in Ose local government area of Ondo State, currently residing in Aruwajoye Stree, Owo, Ondo state, kindly request your assistance to secure medical treatment for a case of cancer of the mouth.

“I was diagnosed of this condition by Dr. Agboola Ajibola, a Consultant Radiologist with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on the 3rd day of September, 2023.

“Part of the findings of the examination conducted prior to diagnosis is stated below:
“An expansile soft tissue mass is seen occupying the left maxillary sinus. It is noted destroying the adjacent bone (Wall of maxillary sinus, alveolar process and left half of the hard palate) with expansion into the nasal and oral cavity…” The medical report is attached for your perusal.

“At the time of diagnosis in September, 2023, a total of Three Million Naira (3,000,000) was required to perform a surgery to address the condition. The doctor also stated that the 3,000,000 is for the surgery, however, more money will be required for the post-surgery care.

“Regrettably, owing to financial incapacity, and inability to raise the required fund, I have remained with the condition, seeking alternative care, pending when the money is raised. Unfortunately, the condition has continued to deteriorate compared to the time of diagnosis owing to lack of appropriate proper medical care.

“This condition has negatively affected my life in ways beyond my imagination. First, I had to stop my job as a primary school teacher, where I earn the little I use to support myself and my daughter. Aside this, my husband, (Gbenga Ayegbusi), the father of my 2-year-old daughter and his family have abandoned me to the care of my mother and siblings.
It is based on this backdrop that I am seeking the assistance of well-meaning Nigerian , businessmen philanthropist, organizations and humanitarian across the world to come to my aid.

“At this point, I am ready to do anything devoid of crime or social vices to seek help to save my life and continue to be the mother of daughter.

“I appeal to Nigerian and humanitarians across the world to come to my aid in whatsoever capacity you can to help me make this surgery a reality and restore me to full health.

“Thank you in anticipation of your assistance,” she said.
