The Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Kayode Thadius Ijadunola, has challenged the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, (BEDC) on the need for quality service to the citizenry and particularly the University Community.
Williams Olufunmi, Head, Public Relations of Elizade in a press release disclosed that the Vice Chancellor met with the Regional management team led by Mr Remi Faola, while on a courtesy call him, adding that Nigerians are fed up with constant black out and electricity failure.
According to him, the younger generations are growing impatient with the systemic failure being experienced in Nigeria, hence the pervading Japa Syndrome and there is need to form a common front to find lasting solution to the hydra-headed problems confronting the Nigerian nation-state, particularly with regards to power failure.
He noted that efficient Power Supply is the bedrock of economic growth and sustainable development.
Professor Ijadunola said teaching and learning as well as the welfare of students in Elizade University cannot be compromised and therefore, his administration will not joke with anything that threatens such.
The University don who appreciated the quality attention by BEDC team to Elizade University, however, said there is the need for everyone to see Public Service ‘beyond the call of duty’ while also thanking the team for the reassurance of continued better service on campus.
The Regional Head of BEDC, Mr Remi Faola thanked Elizade University for the existing mutual cooperation between the two organisations.
He attributed the load shedding currently being experienced in parts of Akure to De-Generation and gas shortage.
The BEDC team noted that plans are already being concluded to upgrade Akure Power Supply Chain to that of Osogbo.
