The unveiling and groundbreaking ceremony of Ekiwood Movie Village in Ondo was yet another visible landmark achievement for Hon. Dr Abiola Makinde, who is also the Atunluse of Ondo Kingdom.
Makinde is a ranking member, House of Representatives, representing the good people of Ondo East and West Local Governments at Abuja.
Alli Moshood Abiodun, Special Adviser to Hon Makinde on Media & Publicity in a press release on Tuesday noted that the landmark achievement has not only aided in breaking the unusual barrier in the entertainment industry but also underscores lots of direct benefits of the innovative initiatives to his people and Ondo communities.
According to Hon Makinde, the vision was clinically conceived together with the Ekiwood Board of Trustees to give a platform to hundreds of youths in Ondo Kingdom to rise to stardom in film making, production and empowerment in a well developed and concentrated environment as regards the purpose.
Beyond that, emphasis was laid by Hon. Makinde who graciously facilitated the Ekiwood Movie Village, that “Entertainment” is one of the ‘Es’ newly added to his WEALTH (Water, Education, Agriculture, Light, Training and Health) agenda mantra to make it ‘WE3ALTH’ in his second term in office in order to drive accelerated development, employment and commerce in Ondo Kingdom.
He further reiterated his unwavering commitment to make Ekiwood into a hub of international face in the film making industry, unbundling talents and tackling unemployment among the youths populace in Ondo Kingdom.
In the remarks of representatives of Ekiwood Board of Trustees, Idris Mamukuyomi and Enirekan Adewole (Fotospirit) appreciated the efforts of Hon. Makinde for nominating them as Ekiwood Board Members, and also his commitment so far in bringing the Ekiwood vision into reality.
While laying emphasis on the major advantages of the project for Ondo communities which was said to be not only for making blockbuster films in Ondo alone, but also for the incorporation of Ekiwood Cooperative Multipurpose with the hope of giving out soft loans to the entertainers. The board members also noted that the hub is a fertile ground to create employment for hundreds of youths in the entertainment industry.
The special appearance of Mr Adebayo Tijani and Allwell Ademola who are notable Movie Producer/ Director in Nollywood at the event remarked that the initiative will go a long way in institutionalising entertainment industry in Ondo Kingdom for real.
In their contributions, Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju (OMO), the Ondo State House of Assembly Member for Ondo West Constituency 1, Chief Agboola Kelly (Baba Afairo Ojo) and Chief Mrs Adenike Olawoye (Mama Aserere) eulogised Hon. Makinde’s undying commitment towards making Ondo Kingdom a cynosure of modern development in all areas of human endeavours with special reference to his facilitation of Ekiwood Movie Village in their lifetime.
Chief Johnson Akinlosotu (Baba Aladeigbo), in his own special remarks, seized the opportunity, among other things, to reel out the numerous achievements of Hon. Makinde in his WEALTH mantra agenda while Yangede of Epe, Ọba Isaac Akinkuade described the working Ranking MHR as a God send to Ondo Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the proper Unveiling and Groundbreaking ceremony was performed by Hon. Makinde at Epe community to the glory of God and for the benefit of mankind.
Dignitaries from all walks of life in politics, traditional institutions, and the entertainment industry that graced the event were not limited to Hon. Chief Dr. Abiola Makinde, Ranking Member, House of Representatives, Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, and Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju (OMO), Member, House of Assembly, Ondo Constituency 1.
