The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State on Wednesday trained media aides of governorship aspirants within the party.

The event held in Akure, the Ondo State capital was well attended by stalwarts of the party that included Dr Eddy Olafeso, former NWC member; Tola Alabere, Chairman of the party; Seye Olujimi, Secretary of the party; Kennedy Peretei, Publicity Secretary of the party; and other SWC members.

Declaring the one day seminar open, Mr Alabere, noted that the media aides were invited for the training because their principals are members of the PDP.

Alabere who said members of the party are tired of been in opposition, urged the media aides to set their eyes on winning the November, 2024 election.

The Chairman who emphasized the need for the media aides to exercise caution in their posts on social media, added that the party would need them more after the primary election in few days.

He noted that the party members must be united in order to wrestle power from the ruling APC, adding that such would not be achieved under a divided PDP.

“The essence of the training is to let the people know that the PDP is the party to beat in the State. We should not let our activities on the social media divide but unite us. Use your energy against the APC instead of us fighting ourselves on the social media.

“Governor Seyi Makinde once told me that the PDP in Oyo State is more fragmented than that of Ondo State. But that when it was time to fight the APC, they united to achieve it. And that when the PDP got into power, the infighting resumed. So, let’s forget our differences and get to power first before fighting,” Alabere admonished.

The technical session saw the media aides getting to know about, “News reportage for opposition political party,” anchored by the Chief Press Secretary during Governor Olusegun Mimiko tenure, Mr Eni Akinsola.

“Branding and Perception Management Strategy for PDP, Ondo State,” was handled by former executive member of the party, Southwest, Mr Ayo Fadaka.

An Academic and Publisher of Precision Online Newspaper, Olusegun Hakeem Adebumiti took the aides on, “Approach to Social Media Presence for political parties.”

Earlier, Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Ondo State, Kennedy Peretei, disclosed that the seminar points to the fact that the PDP is prepared to takeover power in November, 2024.

Two of the aspirants who were present at the seminar, Mr John Ola Mafo and Mr Bamidele Akingboye expressed optimism that the PDP will win the Guber poll.
