The young man (name not yet provided) whose arrest was announced by the Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday had alleged that the slain yahoo boy had three tortoises – Ijapa Meta inside the boot of his car, at the time he was apprehended by angry mobs.
The incident which happened in Akure, the Ondo State capital few days after the Easter celebration in 2023 was indeed a very sad one.
The alleged yahoo boy, Tope Olorunfemi was later killed in an extra judicial manner by angry mobs who apparently took revenge on him, after causing the death and injury of some passers by when his car hit them.
One of those injured in the crash, One Abdullahi Bolajoko Ibrahim is now incapacitated, while still receiving treatment at the federal medical centre, Owo, one year after.
Police spokesperson in Ondo State, SP Funmi Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the arrest of “Ijapa Meta” to newsmen on Tuesday.
Details of the young man’s identity and how he was arrested are yet to be made public.
