Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reinstated his commitment to women development, especially in the Agricultural sector in the State.
The Governor who stated this at the disbursement of N500,000 cheques to the first batch of women under the first lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu’s renewed hope initiative, disclosed that women have the capacity, both mentally and physically to bring about the much desired growth in our society.
Represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Deaconess Omolola Fagbemi, the Governor noted that his administration is passionate about women related development hence, the government has put in place several life changing programmes for the benefit of all women in the Sunshine State.
Henry Johnson Olagundoye, media director in the ministry in a press release quoted Mrs Fagbemi as saying the initiative would ensure women also contribute to the economic development of the state, while also improving their financial status.
She appreciated the First Lady for this laudable project, as it will go a long way to improve the financial status of our women.
She said it will also enable them to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of the economy of the state through agriculture thereby driving the state towards the much desired food security for all and sundry.
The Women Commissioner assured that the RHI Women Agricultural Support Programme will not be limited to the first 20 beneficiaries, as it’s a continuous process and about 80 other beneficiaries would still be empowered in the course of the year.
Responding, the Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Gender, Chief Mrs Olamide Falana enjoined the beneficiaries not to squander the fund but use it judiciously for the purpose it’s meant for. She appreciated the kind gezture of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for availing Ondo State women of this privileged opportunity.
In his own response, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Tope Lebile appreciated the good gesture of the Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Gender, Chief Mrs Olamide Falana for the role she played by crossing the ‘T’s and dotting the ‘i’s to ensure that the cheque meant for the first batch of beneficiaries was released accordingly.
